Home of the Year's Amanda Bone loves The Sports Room!

What a surprise to get a notification popping up on my phone on Saturday from @amanda_bone_architect with a link to an article in The Irish Independent listing The Sports Room as one of her favourite shops!

"The Sports Room in Wicklow is a specialist sports shop, dedicated to running, swimming and biking, run by a husband-and-wife team. It's where I buy all our swim gear, but it's more than just a sports shop. It's a well designed destination, provides great personal service and I always prefer to support a local business over big brands."

Have to say, we were thrilled to get this praise about the shop design from such an esteemed designer and judge of RTE's Home of the Year! In a previous life, I used to work with her co-host, Hugh Wallace (not as designer though!). I would have loved for him to know what Amanda thought of the shop. 

It's nice that Amanda likes to support local - something we like to do ourselves when fitting out the shop. Huge thanks to Bear Creation in Rathnew for custom building our shoe wall and clothes display units. And to M&D Engineering, also in Rathnew for all the rails they've put together for us. Other local businesses that have helped us out include Martsworth, ND Electrical, Copperfish and of course all the screws, nails and other bits we've picked up along the way in O'Reilly's Hardware!
